Transportation and Logistics Technology

To prepare individuals with skills and knowledge in the fields of

 

◆  Importing/Exporting                    ◆  Shipping/Receiving

 

◆  Freight Forwarding                       ◆  Dispatching and Record Keeping

 

◆  Administration

 

Forklift Certification and Six Sigma Certification (white belt)

are offered (but not required) and paid for by the school.

 

 

The successful graduate will be able to demonstrate

 

Customer service skills in detecting and resolving customer complaints and issues.

 

  • Ability to use dispatching equipment and communicate effectively for inbound and outbound  dispatches.
  • Organizational skills for record keeping, creating and interpreting shipping labels, maintaining an inventory of shipping/receiving documents, utilizing Microsoft Excel or other similar inventory control software, and scheduling and tracking shipments.
  • Warehousing skills in inventory management and billing processes.
  • Ability to correspond with customers, vendors and employees via email, internal memos and telephone calls.
  • Understanding of International trade terms and freight handling regulations as it relates to land, ocean and air.
  • Strong computer and administrative skills to competently work in an office environment.

The successful graduate will be able to demonstrate

 

  •  Microsoft Office proficiency in Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook.
  • Customer service skills in detecting and resolving customer complaints and issues.
  • Administrative Assistant and Receptionist skills.
  • Computer accounting and QuickBooks entry level skills.
  • Web Page Design.
  • Ability to correspond with customers, vendors and employees via email, internal memos and telephone calls.
  • Office equipment protocol.

 

 

 

Certification in Customer Service from the NRF

is offered to students (but is not mandatory).

The school pays the certification fee.

Diversified Vocational College does not have any articulation agreements with other institutions.

 

DVC teaches Business Office Administration, Medical Billing Electronic System, and Transportation and Logistics Technology applicants must be High School graduates, hold a GED certificate, or be able to pass an Ability-to-Benefit test (ATB). The cut-off score for the ATB test is 200 for verbal, and 210 for math.

 

Business Administration Program, Medical Billing Electronic System and Transportation and Logistics Technology

 

Applicants seeking admission to the Program must be high school graduates or hold a GED certificate, or pass an ATB test and be beyond the age of compulsory high school attendance (18 or over).

 

An interview with an Admissions Advisor is also required.

 

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

 

Resident applicants:  A visit to the school is required.  You may be given an ability to benefit (ATB) test and interviewed by an Admissions Advisor.  You must complete an application form and arrange for your tuition payments.  You will also be given a tour of the facilities.  Your application will be submitted to a school representative.  If it is not accepted, any tuition and fees paid will be refunded within ten (10) days.
